Former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi has believed that if the men-in-blue win the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE, Shastri will proceed as the coach of the team.

Ravi Shastri’s tenure as Team India’s coach will reach the end after the conclusion of the forthcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in the UAE. Since Rahul Dravid is instructing the Indian team in the Sri Lanka tour, conversations are going on if he would potentially take over the control over the role as India head coach after Shastri’s tenure reaches the end.

The transition to appoint Rahul Dravid as the coach for the Sri Lanka tour has given an indication that the latter could be given a perpetual job after current coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure gets over. While Shastri has done a striking job with the team, still the duo of Shastri and Kohli is yet to get their hands on an ICC trophy. The Indian cricket team has arrived at new heights under the guidance of Ravi Shastri.

In the interim, former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi has thought that if the men-in-blue win the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE, Shastri will proceed as the coach of the team in blue.

“This is speculative without a doubt. It is inappropriate to say that Ravi Shastri has not performed well. He has done very well however on the off chance that the boundary is winning trophies, we have not done that. Yet, on the off chance that the Indian team wins the T20 World Cup, it will be difficult to eliminate Ravi Shastri as the coach,” Sodhi said during a conversation on India News.

“He has done a decent job before too and winning the trophy, something we have been sitting tight for, I figure the reason will be fulfilled this time. Be that as it may, toward the day’s end, the manner in which Rahul Bhai has gone to Sri Lanka as a coach and the board dismissed the proposition of two extra batsmen, you get a fairly different sign. If you were to ask me, there is pressure on Ravi Bhai,” he added.

While Shastri is in England, Dravid will mentor another team that is set to take on Sri Lanka. The first ODI was to be played on July 13, yet that has been pushed back after a couple of Covid cases in the opposition Sri Lanka’s camp. In the meantime, the team will be equipped to deal with Virat Kohli and Co when they take on England in the five-match Test series. India has consistently faced stiff challenges in England with the ball moving, and this time too they will be tried and tested. Hence, it should be perceived how Shastri handles the outcomes.

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev thought, “I don’t think there is any need to talk about it. Let this Sri Lanka series get over. We’ll become acquainted with the sort of performance our team has dished out. In case you’re attempting to shape another mentor, there’s nothing wrong with it. Of course, if Ravi Shastri keeps on working effectively, there’s no reason to remove him either. The truth will surface as time passes by. Prior to that, I think it will squeeze more mental pressure on our mentors and players, which is surely not good for the performance they are about to put up for the country,” the former India skipper said on the ABP News.
