Ravindra Jadeja has been doing well as a finisher over the last few years. His batting has improved dramatically, andhttps://rockodds.com/rr-vs-mi-match-51-match-prediction/ as an all-rounder, he is one of the first names on the team. He recently managed to pull an excellent finish against KKR, making 22 off just eight, when the team was left with a stiff target. With Jadeja constantly growing as a finisher, let us look at some of his contributions as a finisher for CSK in the past.

38 off 20 Vs RCB, 2013

2013 was a breakthrough year for Ravindra Jadeja. He made his Test debut, was brilliant in all facets during the IPL, and the rise of Sir Ravindra Jadeja took place. His first impactful role with the bat in the tournament came against Bangalore. Chasing 166, Chennai lost Hussey and Vijay early. Raina and Badrinath stabilized the innings and fell, while Dhoni was also out shortly before the showdown.

The pressure was on Ravindra Jadeja, who batted well and ran hard. He took the game down to the last over and found two big hits early on with sixteen needed. The game went down to two to win off one ball. With just one ball to go, Jadeja managed a unique feat of winning the game with one ball to spare. He hit the ball to the third man and was caught, but a no-ball gave CSK the win and allowed MS Dhoni to elevate Sir Jadeja.

36 off 14 balls Vs KKR, 2013

Playing against Kolkata on a sluggish pitch, CSK chased 119 and got off to a slow start. The batters struggled, and Michael Hussey held the innings together with a slow 40 off 52 balls. Despite the low score, the required run rate went high and touched the tens. Ravindra Jadeja came out and played a blinder with the situation getting tougher and more discouraging due to the soft target. He made 36 off just fourteen balls and finished the game with five balls remaining.

33 off 13 Vs DC, 2020

IPL 2020 was a dismal campaign for Chennai, but Ravindra Jadeja was brilliant as a finisher. He came in at the end and played quick knocks throughout the season to save Chennai from embarrassing defeats. With MS Dhoni struggling, Jadeja took responsibility as the finisher and displayed his utility as a batter.

One such occasion of his brilliant finishing skills came against Delhi. Jadeja walked in with three overs to go and smoked Delhi. He, along with Rayudu, charged at the likes of Rabada and Nortje to help CSK get a good score. Jadeja finished with four sixers, while CSK got to 179. Unfortunately, the score wasn’t enough, with Dhawan making an excellent century, but Jadeja’s potential as a finisher was on complete display.

31 off 11 Vs KKR, 2020

The first time these two sides met in IPL 2020, Jadeja made 21 off eight balls. He finished the game well but came in too late to prevent CSK from losing. By the time the two sides met again, Chennai had no hope of qualifying while KKR needed to win. With a lot at stake for KKR, they were hit by Jadeja, who took the game deep and won it for them. He came in with 38 needed sixteen balls. Magnificent innings set up the game from Gaikwad, but a middle-order slump damaged CSKs hopes.

Jadeja found his groove from ball one, finding boundaries regularly and easing the burden on Sam Curran, who didn’t see runs as easy to come by. He took fifteen runs of Ferguson, scoring well under pressure, and took the game into the final over. Curran struggled for the first few balls in the last through and left Jadeja with 7 to get off two against Nagarkoti. With seven needed, Jadeja cleared the boundary twice, with two huge sixes to seal the game.

The win made things more challenging for KKR, and after the win, Dhoni praised Jadeja by saying he is one of the few consistent batters in the CSK line-up during IPL 2020.

25 off 10 Vs SRH, 2020

Midway through the season, Chennai was desperate for a win. They batted first against SRH, and their most consistent batter of the season helped them get to a defendable score of 167. Ravindra Jadeja came in with three overs to spare and had Dhoni for support. In this case, Dhoni managed to find some boundaries before succumbing and leaving Jadeja to finish the innings.

Jadeja ran well and made a silent contribution up until the final over. He was on 13 off seven and managed to find two boundaries in a cameo that often goes unnoticed. The cameo was crucial as it helped CSK get a decent score. He followed up his cameo with a good and tight spell. CSK ended up winning the game, and Ravindra Jadeja got the man-of-the-match award for his all-around effort.

62 off 28 Vs RCB, 2021

Ravindra Jadeja had a good time playing Cricket during the pandemic, and his fixture against RCB was probably the pinnacle of his last two years. He came in to bat during the fourteenth over and had a reasonable amount of time, unlike on previous occasions. Ravindra Jadeja took some time to get settled, and the pitch looked slow as well. His innings didn’t start that well, and it looked like he was struggling in the middle.

He, along with Rayudu, found occasional boundaries, but CSK looked set for a low score. They managed five of the 18th and nine runs in the 19th over. Scoring 165 seemed to be a tough ask, but the final over exceeded everyone’s expectations. After Harshal Patel, the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2021 and a bowler who was in brilliant form in the death, Chennai’s hopes didn’t seem good.

However, Ravindra Jadeja neglected everything and took apart one of the best wicket-takers in the death overs of IPL 2021. He hit four sixes in the first four balls, with one being called a height no-ball. The tables turned utterly, and Jadeja was on top after struggling initially. He hit another six and four in the last two balls and took the purple cap holder for 37 runs. It was an over nobody expected, and it allowed Chennai to get to 190, which didn’t seem possible at the start of the final over.

The day turned out to be a great one for Jadeja, as he followed his innings with some wonderful contributions in the field. Jadeja took three wickets and affected a trademark run-out to complete a glorious day. He was awarded the man-of-the-match, and CSK dominated RCB. The innings were proof that Jadeja has taken over as a finisher.
