While the time is coming closure for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the focus is shifting to the ODI format. There is a concern about the fitness of the Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is in the squad for the upcoming home ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, didn’t bowl both innings of the latest Ranji Trophy match. His Ranji team member revealed the reason for Jadeja’s absence in bowling.
In the last round of the group stage in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Saurashtra faced Assam. After Saurashtra scored 474 runs, Assam were all out for 164 and 166 runs, respectively, as Saurashtra won the match by an innings and 144 runs.

During the first innings of the match, while the openers Harvik Desai scored 130 and Chirag Jani scored 80, the no.3 batter Cheteshwar Pujara scored 99, Sheldon Jackson scored 48, and Sammar Gajjar scored 60 runs. Ravindra Jadeja came to bat at no.9, where the left-handed batter scored 19 off 28 balls with two fours.
However, the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja didn’t bowl both the innings, while Saurashtra claimed a comfortable win. In fact, Vishvarajsinh Jadeja replaced the Indian all-rounder in the field.
While Jadeja is an important name in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the tournament between 19 February and 9 March 2025, concern about his fitness is very much expected.
Talking about Jadeja’s absence, a Saurashtra team member clarified that the all-rounder was only rested as a precautionary measure for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
A Saurashtra team member said, “He was not injured. We had just rested him on the field as a precautionary measure as he will part of India’s Champions Trophy squad.”
While Saurashtra beat Delhi in their last game, Ravindra Jadeja won the Player of the Match award for taking 12 wickets, including a fifer and a seven-fer.
