The Indian cricket team might rest two players – one batsman and one bowler – for the fifth Test match against England in Dharamsala, starting on March 7, according to the report. The team wants to manage their workload, especially after securing victory in the series with a win in the Ranchi Test. However, the report didn’t mention the names of the players being considered for rest.

Workload management strategy for Indian cricket team

It’s anticipated that Jasprit Bumrah will return to the playing XI in Dharamsala after being rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, with an eye on the upcoming T20 World Cup.

On the other hand, KL Rahul has been absent from the last three Test matches due to injury. Report may suggests he may miss the final game in Dharamsala as well. Rahul hasn’t fully recovered from a quadriceps injury sustained during the first Test. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent him to London for further evaluation.

Uncertainty looms over participation in Dharamsala test

Although Rahul was almost cleared to play the third Test, the team management and National Cricket Academy (NCA) decided to reassess his condition. He was included in the India squad for the final three matches, but his availability depends on his recovery.

With India already leading 3-1 in the series, selectors might opt to give him more time to heal, considering the T20 World Cup ahead.
