While India brilliantly made a comeback in the Bengaluru Test, it ultimately ended with a heartbreaking and tense situation in the Indian team dressing room. Captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli seemed to be unhappy with the decisions of the on-field umpires at the end of the day.

Umpires called off the day due to bad light

New Zealand need 107 runs to win the three-match Test series opener at Bengaluru. After India delivered four balls in the first over of the fourth innings, which Jasprit Bumrah bowled, the day was called off due to bad light.

Although the on-field umpires decided to go off the ground after the four balls of the first over of the fourth innings, the Indian team was unhappy and stayed on the ground for some time. During this period, Rohit and Kohli argued with the on-field umpires, and the Indian captain wasn’t happy with the umpires’ decision.

Sunday will be a big day

Sunday (October 19) will be the fifth day of the Bengaluru Test. While New Zealand are the favourites for this match, Indian bowlers need a miracle to win the game. Meanwhile, rain can also play a significant role on the last day, as Accuweather suggests thunderstorms from Saturday night to Sunday evening.

New Zealand are favourites

After India were bundled out for only 46 runs, their lowest total in a Test innings at home, New Zealand scored 402 runs in their first innings. Starting the third innings by trailing 356 runs, the Indian top-order batters and early middle-order batters inspired the hosts to make a comeback.

After the openers Yashavi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scored 37 and 52 runs, respectively, Virat Kohli scored 70 runs before losing his wicket on the last ball of the third day. On the fourth day, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant had a 177-run partnership for the fourth wicket. While Sarfaraz scored 150 runs off 195 balls with 18 fours and three sixes, Pant was unlucky to get out on 99 runs off 105 balls with the help of nine fours and five sixes.

However, after their partnership was broken, Indian batting collapsed quickly. India lost their last six wickets for only 29 runs.

The visitors New Zealand need 107 runs to win the match.
