IPL 2024 has come to its fag end where only a few league matches are left. While KKR, RR and SRH have sealed their places in the playoffs, CSK and RCB are still hopeful to become the fourth team as well.
However, Mumbai Indians are all set to take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, May 17. Meanwhile, MI had a very ordinary season where Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya’s form came under the scanner too.
As per the franchise agreement, in possession of Cricbuzz, the League Points are given as per the teams’ final standings in the points table before the Playoffs as well. The last-placed team earns one point, and other teams receive one additional point for each position in the points table. This system is to ensure fair distribution of funds among their performance as well.

However, a victory on Friday will help Mumbai Indians to move up from the 10th position as well. MI’ have had a horror season, nothing going well for them except ‘s only positive is Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling and the occasional knocks of Suryakumar Yadav. Ahead of the all-important T20 World Cup, there’ll also be concern over the form of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, who are all in the Indian squad.
Meanwhile, Lance Klusener said, “Yeah, I think next year there is a mega auction. There’s people that want to impress. I think we’re playing for our supporters. We’ve got a lot to play for tomorrow,” the LSG’s assistant coach said.
However, Mumbai Indians lost their last game to Kolkata Knight Riders. After the game, Hardik Pandya said: “Tough one, yeah. As a batting unit, the foundation was there but we could not capitalize after that and keep the momentum up. The wicket was a little up and down and a little tacky so momentum was very important. I think it was a par score, given the conditions, felt that the bowlers did well. Every ball that came back from the boundary came back wet. The bowlers made sure they kept taking wickets. (On his thoughts for the next game) Nothing, just to go and enjoy as much as we can and play good cricket, that’s been my motto from the start. I don’t think we’ve played enough good cricket this season.”
