One of the most illustrious franchises in IPL history, Mumbai Indians are setting their sights high and determined to reclaim their superlative league dominance. With five titles in the bag now, they're looking for their sixth trophy. Though no longer the captain, Rohit Sharma is fueled by a desire for victory and committed to taking the team to the top again.

Mumbai Indians have had a struggling run in the last few years. The team really slowed down after they won their fifth IPL championship in 2020. Something doesn't seem right, there's a noticeable drop in form lately. Maybe something happened internally that we're not aware of or going on that's affecting the team. They finished at the bottom of the standings last season and just won four out of 14 matches under Hardik Pandya. The underwhelming performances really left the fans feeling frustrated and concerned about what the future holds for the team.

Rohit Sharma is going to give a big wake-up call and realign the spirits of the Mumbai Indians when things have thrown a spanner in the works lately. Talking about his ambitions, he says, "I really want to win that IPL trophy and reclaim the glory of Mumbai Indians. Regardless if he's playing captain, his leadership still carries a lot of weight with the team.

Mumbai Indians have started IPL 2025 on a slow pace

Every year MI seem to start the tournament slow for sure, but even this IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians has been no different. The same struggles at the beginning crop up for them, too. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders were beaten eight wickets in their initial three matches—just once. The team needs to get their rhythm back soon to avoid one more disappointing year as they now are fifth in the table.

With Rohit's experience and determination, MI are going to have a hard time regaining that past glory that they once had. The fans can hardly wait for the flavor of the season and are hoping and imagining how they can change everything and get that sixth IPL championship title.
