"Sehwag Questions Rohit’s Greatness in IPL!"

Even though one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL, Rohit Sharma has never dominated a season with an exceptionally high run count. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recently wondered why Rohit has never surpassed the 600-700 run mark in a single season. Sehwag made the comments following Mumbai Indians' poor IPL 2025 opening, during which Rohit didn't make any impact in matches one and two. His highest season for IPL runs came in 2013 when he smashed 538 runs, helping Mumbai Indians win their inaugural title. He has breached the 400-run mark on eight occasions since that season but has lacked consistency. In IPL 2024, Rohit scored 417 runs in 14 games with a century, but according to critics, he should be targeting far larger scores considering his capability.

Tiwary’s Harsh Criticism: "Why Can’t Rohit Be Like Kohli?"

Commenting on Cricbuzz following Mumbai Indians' second defeat in IPL 2025, retired cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed dismay at Rohit's performances. According to him, Rohit, considering the talent he possesses, should be fighting for the Orange Cap annually. In contrast with Virat Kohli, Tiwary asked why Kohli continues to produce high-scoring seasons yet Rohit could not overpower others. He added that a player like Rohit should target 800-900 runs per season.

Rohit's lack of form has been a big worry for Mumbai Indians, who are yet to register their first victory in IPL 2025. He began the season with a duck against Chennai Super Kings in the season opener on March 23, 2025. In the second game against Gujarat Titans on March 27, 2025, he could score a couple of boundaries before being removed by Mohammad Siraj in the same over.

 With Mumbai Indians languishing at the bottom of the points table, the onus is growing on Rohit to produce match-winning performances.With the season of IPL 2025 having just started, fans and experts are waiting anxiously to know if Rohit Sharma can pull things around and shut his critics by scoring a big innings in the coming games.
