Additionally, Rohit is on the brink of a historic feat, poised to become the first player in international cricket to hit 600 sixes. With 597 sixes to his credit, the 37-year-old requires just three more to etch his name in cricketing history. Spin will play a big role in T20 World Cup 2024: Rohit Sharma

Ahead of India’s inaugural match in the T20 World Cup 2024, skipper Rohit Sharma emphasized the pivotal role of spin in the prestigious tournament. Set to face Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium, Rohit acknowledged the sluggish nature of the pitch and expressed confidence in India’s ability to adapt to such conditions.

The 37-year-old captain also left the door open for both Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, highlighting their potential to provide the right balance in the squad despite offering similar variations. Additionally, Rohit underscored the importance of pace-bowling all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as the tournament progresses.

“The spinners will have a role to play, a big one. Our spinners are all-rounders, Axar and Jadeja. They are required for a good balance of the team. In pace bowling all-rounders, we have Hardik and Shivam. We will think about how to use them in the tournament, as it progresses.” Rohit said in the pre-match press conference.
