In a recent column for The Sydney Morning Herald, Sunil Gavaskar criticized the Test skipper of India- Rohit Sharma. Gavaskar said Rohit let himself down, had to choose to give up the captaincy amid his form slump. He wondered whether the choice signaled more general doubts about Rohit and his future in Test cricket.
But Gavaskar was not done with that appraisal. He added that if Rohit does not hammer the ball in the next couple of Tests at Melbourne and Sydney, in the mind of the captain, he might well resign, rather than be forced out by the selectors.
It is said that Rohit didn't like these remarks and got over the hactive of Gavaskar being too mean. Consequently, he is also said to have made a complaint against this criticism to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
But till date, no official statement from any of BCCI representatives has been made in regard to the complaint.
Also in the mix of his comments on Rohit Gavaskar had some comments very live when he described Rishabh Pant's shooting batting as "stupid stupid stupid "

These were enough to weigh Rohit down, according to the source within BCCI as he was finally forced to take this to them after the aggregate criticism, it was alleged. Still, in the actual content of Gavaskar's criticisms, one must concede that his souring may have stemmed considering Rohit's recent performance which wasn't that convincing. There were no Rohit tallies in the three Test matches that preceded the furor, averaging less than two runs a piece.
His decision-making on the field was subsequently criticized, in addition to his in-field leadership with some calls having been met with a questioning air.India did well in the series winning the first Test at Perth but then went on to lose the Border-Gavaskar trophy ending a 10 years winning streak. Coming up, the Indian team will play England in a Test series in June-July next month.
