The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finalized their squad for the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season during the mini-auction held in Dubai on Tuesday.
Starting the mini-auction with a budget of ₹23.25 crore, RCB had already secured the services of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for ₹17.50 crore in the off-season. Additionally, they executed a trade move, swapping Shahbaz Ahmed for Mayank Dagar during the same period.
During the initial phase of the auction, RCB actively bid for several players, including making a surprising ₹20.25 crore bid for Australian skipper Pat Cummins. However, their bid was surpassed by the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
The primary focus for RCB was to rebuild their bowling unit after releasing Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Despite unsuccessful attempts to secure Pat Cummins and Gerald Coetzee, RCB aggressively pursued West Indies seamer Alzarri Joseph, ultimately acquiring him for ₹11.50 crore as their first purchase.

Continuing the pace bowling reconstruction, RCB secured left-arm pacer Yash Dayal for ₹5 crore. England all-rounder Tom Curran joined the squad at his base price of ₹1.50 crore during the accelerated round.
In the second round of the accelerated stage, RCB added Lockie Ferguson to their lineup for his base price of ₹2 crore. The team concluded the auction by making a couple of late acquisitions, bringing in Swapnil Singh and Saurav Chauhan at their base price of ₹20 lakh each.
