Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has named three players to look out for in the forthcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. The selectors have named a host of youthful players as India’s best option players are presently in England, planning for the five-Test series. With Rahul Dravid in charge, it vows to be a thrilling series. Remembering that, Sanjay Manjrekar picked three players he is keen to see perform well.

Sanjay Manjrekar began with Suryakumar Yadav, who he trusts can take care of India’s middle-order issue in white-ball cricket. The cricketer-turned pundit accepts that it turned into a critical justification for their loss in the 2019 World Cup and Yadav looks an ideal fit for the middle order job.

“One is Suryakumar Yadav. You realize India had a middle-order issue in white-ball cricket. It turned into the main reason for India’s loss at the 2019 World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav looks an ideal fit for the middle order, to play at No.3 or No.4,” Sanjay Manjrekar told in the Sportskeeda show Sanjay Se Sawal

Sanjay Manjrekar brought up that while the right-handed batsman’s international career began well, an excess of competition needs him to perform reliably. Yet, the 55-year old believes that the 31-year-old should convey his amazing form to international cricket.

“So we should see his form since his international debut was excellent yet there is so much rivalry that he should ceaselessly give performances like that. In the class we are finding in his batting throughout the last two-three years in white-ball cricket, in the IPL, the assumption is that he will convey that similar form to Indian cricket,” the cricketer-turned commentator expressed.

Sanjay Manjrekar names a spinner and pacer in his remaining two picks:

Sanjay Manjrekar anticipates seeing Chetan Sakariya at the international arena and was dazzled by his maturity in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. The Mumbai-conceived former cricketer underlined that as a left-arm seamer, he carries variations to the assault and noticed he had a decent economy and strike rate by bowling every one of the tough overs. Manjrekar backs Sakariya to come great at the top level.

“The second player whose performance I am looking forward to, I trust he gets an opportunity too, is Chetan Sakariya. I was recently astounded that another person who has scarcely played any senior cricket, the manner in which he bowled in the IPL. He is a left-arm seamer, so will likewise acquire some variation in the Indian assault. The achievement he has is economy rate looks generally excellent by bowling the easy overs, he bowled all the intense overs, and in spite of that an awesome economy rate and a decent strike rate. Seeing all that, it appears to be that he has various abilities to get by in each of the phases of an innings,” Manjrekar conceded.

At last, Sanjay Manjrekar expressed that Varun Chakravarthy is one player he would want to see do well after Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav conveyed the spin bowling assault for quite a while. The Test veteran featured that Varun has a decent temperament, is gentle-natured, and bowls straight. Manjrekar further yielded that any batsman will consider facing a challenge against the leggie and could turn into an assigned wicket-taker in the middle overs.

“The third player is Varun Chakravarthy. It is probably time now to see more spinners, for many years Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have worn the tricolor, so it will be a great idea to have more choices. Rahul Chahar is a proper leg-spinner however Varun Chakravarthy has that forte that was there in Sunil Narine prior when his bowling action was not suspect. His personality is really good, he is gentle-natured and bowls a straight line. So if a batsman attempts to face a challenge against him, he can get him bowled or leg-before. He is a spinner who can get wickets for India in the middle overs,” he added further.

While Chetan Sakariya and Varun Chakravarthy are yet to make their national debut, Suryakumar has made his white-ball debut for India earlier against England. The Sri Lanka tour would be taken as an extraordinary stage to impress the selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup.
