The Supreme Court on Monday gave notice to former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and furthermore remained the arbitration proceedings started by the Delhi High Court against Amrapali group on his request.
A bench of Justices U.U. Lalit and Bela M. Trivedi noticed that the interest of the Amrapali home purchasers must be secured and the past management of the Amrapali bunch can’t be anticipated to address the reason for Amrapali in the arbitration proceedings.
It added that in these conditions, a game plan must be shown, so that cases made by the homebuyers are fulfilled and from there on, the advancement of Amrapali can be investigated and secured.
The top court was informed that there are two arbitrations under the steady gaze of the high court. One of the arbitration cases has been started by S.T. Constructions against Amrapali Princely Estate Private Ltd, where Justice B.S. Chauhan has been named as the arbitrator.
In the other arbitration case, Dhoni against Amrapali Homes Projects Private Ltd, Justice Veena Birbal, a former high court judge, has been designated as sole arbitrator to adjugate the disputes between the parties.

The top court noticed that since the Amrapali procedures are forthcoming with it, consequently notification ought to be given regarding this situation.
“Now, with the erstwhile Amrapali management behind the bars, it is not possible for the court-appointed receiver to go before the arbitrator in connection with individual claims. Today, the top court was apprised of this matter, and, after hearing arguments, issued notice,”

As indicated by Amrapali homebuyers, over Rs 42 crore must be recuperated from Dhoni, which was allegedly paid as endorsement fee by redirecting the amount deposited by them. In July 2019, the top court in its judgement had said that Amrapali had redirected Rs 42.22 crore of homebuyers’ money to pay its brand ambassador Dhoni and the amount was paid to Rhiti Sports, which deals with the cricketer’s endorsements.
