While hosts India were struggling at 79/5 at one stage during the Pune T20I, Indian middle-order batters Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya set an unforgettable partnership for the sixth wicket. They produced an 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which set a new record for the highest T20I partnership for fifth or lower wickets for any team against England.

The Indian duo broke the partnership record of Australian cricketers Aaron Finch and Ashton Agar's 86-run sixth wicket partnership against England which was recorded during the 2018 Birmingham T20I.
