Shreyas Iyer has been a vital part of the Indian middle order, he has played some important innings which has paved his potential for the game. But Iyer too possessed the backlash of being out of the team. Iyer is a capable middle order but the short ball incoming has exposed him a lot. 
Let it be from the Border Gavaskar trophy in 2021 where he was continuously tested with short balls by Pat Cummins and his men, And in the England series where coach Brenden McCallum indicated his bowlers to deliver short balls to Iyer which backfired Iyer a lot.

An Ideal World Cup And Out From Team
Despite his shortcomings, Iyer's form was quite remarkable which gave him an edge to be named in the World Cup squad of 2023. He had considerably a good World Cup with runs, he scored 530 runs having two centuries in it. Soon after World Cup problems started adequating Iyer more he got several injuries and a back spasm. 
Where he was excluded from the test side against Bangladesh. Though leading KKR to their 3rd IPL trophy Iyer was excluded from the T20 Indian World Cup squad which they won. He too shared his disbelief at how he was neglected by the squad and promised to deliver a great comeback.

 Back with A Bang
Though struggling with the outcomes of short balls Iyer decided to come back he went back to train on his technique.  He started his base from the stance by developing the adaption and judging the speed of the ball which helped him a lot. With that, he started to give importance to his fitness where he was lacking, because his recent injuries were abruption him away from the game. Then with this, he gave it a try in Ranji. He was also one of the big names who was playing Ranji Trophy where other big names joined their respective team to find their lost form.
Initially, he had a bad start in the Duleep Trophy where he scored just 150 Runs. But in Ranji he he was looking quite different he started to find his form back scoring 480 runs with two centuries. He too gave a significant performance in winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy for Mumbai. He had a great Vijay Hazare trophy where he scored 325 runs with two centuries. With this, he was selected for the ODI series against England and eventually played 11 too. He played a vital knock of 59 where India lost quick wickets in 19 runs. Iyer just took charge from ball one he was again tested with a short ball but this time he had every answer for upcoming deliveries. His determination to come back was a remarkable one which was praised by many legends of the game.
