Sourav Ganguly to give up BCCI presidency?

The BCCI is where Sourav Ganguly will end his innings. Ganguly is not expected to participate in the BCCI elections on October 18th, according to circulating reports. Ganguly is being considered to be India’s candidate for the position of Chairman of the International Cricket Council. Numerous publications have reported that Roger Binny has a strong chance of succeeding as BCCI President.

Dainik Jagran, a prominent Hindi news publication, reported that top BCCI officials met on Thursday. Additionally, it was decided among officials that Ganguly will not run for office.

Ganguly, Jay Shah, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhummal, and former BCCI President N. Srinivasan was reported to have attended the meeting. 

According to the report, Jay Shah is likely to run again for the POST of BCCI Secretary.

The state associations have begun submitting nominations for representatives to the BCCI AGM ahead of the October 12 deadline. Roger Binny has been unexpectedly chosen by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to serve as their candidate for Santosh Menon’s replacement in the upcoming elections. In the meantime, Avishek Dalmiya is absent from the electoral rolls in significant numbers.

In advance of the BCCI Elections later this month, 35 of the 38 state units, according to a Cricbuzz report, have submitted nominations for their representatives. Universities, railways, and services have requested additional time with the electoral officer. The nominations can be submitted on October 11 and 12, as previously mentioned.

The same will be examined on October 13 and withdrawn on October 14. Meanwhile, the elections are scheduled for October 18, which is also the day of the BCCI AGM.

Roger Binny, one of the 35 names listed, is the most surprising candidate to take Santosh Menon’s place.The all-rounder who won the World Cup is the president of the KSCA, and there are rumours that he might be hired for one of the open positions in the BCCI Office.

Anirudh Chaudhry from Haryana, a former BCCI treasurer, is one of the other prominent names on the list.Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, and Mohammad Azharuddin, a Hyderabadi, are also on the Electoral Rolls.

Avishek Dalmiya, on the other hand, is not listed on the electoral rolls.It is abundantly clear that the son of the previous BCCI president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, will not be a part of the upcoming BCCI administration; instead, the current BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, will serve as the representative of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to the AGM.

Vidharba is represented by Adwait Manohar, the son of former BCCI and ICC chief Shashank Manohar. Baroda is represented by Pranav Amin, the son of former IPL chairman Chirayu Amin.The Delhi-based nominee is Rohan Jaitley, the son of former finance minister and BCCI stalwart Arun Jaitley.

Jay Shah is the representative from Gujarat, and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) has nominated Arun Singh Dhumal.It was initially thought that MCA nominee Ashish Shelar was running for the BCCI position. However, it appears that he has chosen the MCA and will join Mumbai Cricket.

In addition to the three elective positions, the BCCI will hold elections for five office-bearer positions. There is competition for the positions of president, vice president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. Eight of the 35 registered representatives have the potential to be elected to various positions.
