AB De Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Friday, bringing an end to an illustrious career in cricket. In 17 years, he played 114 Tests, 228 One-Day Internationals, and 78 Twenty-20 Internationals for the Proteas, playing in 114 Tests, 228 One-Day Internationals, and 78 Twenty-Twenty Internationals.

The South African cricketer on friday took to his twitter to announce his retirement “from all cricket”, saying that – “It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.. “I have been treated exceptionally well by cricket. The game has given me unimaginable experiences and opportunities, whether I’m playing for the Titans, the Proteas, or RCB, or anywhere else in the world, ” concluded Villiers. Talking about his IPL career, Villiars added “RCB has been a memorable experience. We have so many memories on the personal front to cherish. RCB will always be a very important part of my family and I will continue to support this amazing team”. Forever a RCBian! 

AB de scored 4,491 runs for RCB in 156 games. With a run total of 133* against Mumbai Indians (in 2015) and 129* against Gujarat Lions (in 2016), he holds the second and third highest individual run totals in RCB history .RCB chairman Prathmesh Mishra said that AB is a true leader on and off the field, for which we are grateful. AB has contributed to making RCB one of the premier franchises in the IPL through his tireless commitment. We wish AB all the best for his future. He will always be a part of the RCB family.”
