Dale Steyn Opts Out of SunRisers Hyderabad Coaching Team for IPL Season
Reports from Cricbuzz indicate that Dale Steyn, the esteemed South African pace bowler, has requested a break from his coaching duties with SunRisers Hyderabad for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Steyn, renowned for his remarkable career spanning 93 Tests, 125 ODIs, and 47 T20Is, intends to return next season, subject to requisite arrangements.

Transition in Coaching Leadership

The 40-year-old veteran, having conveyed his unavailability to the franchise management, prompts SunRisers Hyderabad to initiate the search for a new bowling coach. The appointment now rests with head coach Daniel Vettori, who is actively seeking a suitable candidate. However, neither Vettori nor Steyn responded to queries regarding the matter.

Steyn, having represented both Deccan Chargers (now defunct) and Sunrisers Hyderabad as a player, transitioned to a coaching role with Hyderabad in 2022 after a brief stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore. His coaching tenure notably contributed to the development of emerging talent like Umran Malik, who recently secured a fast bowler contract from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Pat Cummins Could Assume Captaincy Role

Expected Announcement: Pat Cummins to Lead Franchise in Upcoming Season.Anticipated reports suggest that Pat Cummins will be unveiled as the new captain for the forthcoming season. The Australian skipper, secured for Rs 20.5 crore in the previous auction in Dubai, holds esteemed recognition in international cricketing circles. Speculations regarding this transition have circulated for some time, given Cummins’ esteemed stature in the cricketing world. His collaboration with franchise head coach Vettori within the Australian national team further augments his candidacy for captaincy.

While Aiden Markram helmed the team in the preceding two IPL seasons, achieving moderate success, Cummins’ potential captaincy comes with high expectations. Despite limited IPL experience, Markram’s commendable leadership of SunRisers Eastern Cape in the SA20’s initial seasons strengthens his credentials.

Nonetheless, Cummins’ illustrious international achievements, notably his pivotal role in Australia’s conquests in the World Test Championship (WTC) and World Cup, particularly against the Indian team, may sway management’s decision in favor of entrusting him with leadership responsibilities.
