In the seventh game of the IPL 2025, SunRisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants (SRH vs LSG) has been scheduled at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Hyderabad) on Thursday evening (March 27). It will be the second game for both teams this IPL season.
The IPL 2024 runners-up SRH started the IPL 2025 in a familiar fashion, which they impressed in the last season. It was the afternoon match against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad, where SRH recorded the second-highest IPL total, 286/6, just one run away from their record IPL total. All the top six SRH batters had 200+ strike rates. After the opener Abhishek Sharma scored 24 off 11 balls (five fours), Travis Head smashed 67 off 31 balls with nine fours and three sixes.
While Nitish Kumar Reddy (30 off 15 balls; four fours and one six) and Heinrich Klaasen (34 off 14 balls; five fours and one six) scored crucial 30s, Ishan Kishan recorded his first IPL century by scoring 106 not out off 47 balls with 11 fours and six sixes.
Although SRH bowlers took three RR wickets in the powerplay, the batting pitch experienced dominance from RR batters. However, SRH comfortably won their tournament opener by 44 runs, which is very strong in T20 cricket despite bowlers conceding many runs in mammoth runs defending on the tough bowling pitch.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants were stunned by Delhi Capitals by one wicket in their IPL 2025 opener. With the help of Mitchell Marsh's 72 off 36 balls (six fours and six sixes) and Nicholas Pooran’s 75 off 30 balls (six fours and seven sixes), and David Miller’s crucial cameo 27 not out off 19 balls (one four and two sixes), LSG scored 209/8 in Visakhapatnam.
In reply, Delhi Capitals were once down to 65/5. Tristan Stubbs (34 off 22 balls; one four and three sixes) and Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15 balls; five fours and two sixes) helped DC return to the game, and Ashutosh Sharma never gave up in the tricky chase as his heroic 66 not out off 31 balls (five fours and five sixes) helped DC to snatch a one-wicket win.
SRH are unlikely to make any significant change in the playing XI for their home match against LSG. Meanwhile, while LSG have a list of injured Indian pacers, Avesh Khan gives a new hope as he is available for selection for the second game.
