The ICC charged Sri Lankan spinner Praveen Jayawickrama with breaking its anti-corruption rules on August 8. The charges involve issues from both international cricket and the 2021 Lanka Premier League (LPL) season.
Jayawickrama, 25, faces three charges. He is accused of not reporting attempts to fix matches and of deleting messages that showed these attempts. He has until August 20 to respond to the charges.
Details of the charges against Jayawickrama
The ICC will handle the LPL-related charges together with those involving international cricket. The three charges against Jayawickrama are:
"Article 2.4.4 – Failing to report to the Anti-Corruption Unit, without unnecessary delay, details of an approach he received to carry out fixing in future International Matches."
"Article 2.4.4 –Failing to report to the Anti-Corruption Unit, without unnecessary delay, details of an approach he received in which he was asked to approach another player, on a corrupter’s behalf, to carry out fixing in the 2021 Lanka Premier League."
"Article 2.4.7 – Obstructing the investigation by deleting messages in which the approaches and offers to engage in corrupt conduct were made."
Response deadline and possible consequences
The ICC's statement says they will deal with the Lanka Premier League charges along with the international match charges. Jayawickrama has until August 20 to respond.

Jayawickrama played 15 international matches for Sri Lanka, taking 32 wickets across all formats. His last game for the national team was during the 2022 T20I series against Australia, and he hasn’t been part of the squad since.
