Steve Smith , Just recently, he scored his 10,000 runs while playing a game against Sri Lanka. That's as many runs as you'd get if you counted all the way to 10,000. Smith did it inordinately speedily, too in just 205 innings . This made him one of the quickest men ever to hit that many runs in cricket, and only Ricky Ponting did it faster in Australia.
Steve Smith used to play a different part of cricket where he blew the ball and sometimes he can bat, but at that time, he didn't bat as well. But all that changed in 2013 when he became really proficient at batting for the Australian team, and by the time he batted in India, everyone was noticing. There was now between 2014 and early 2020 where Steve was clearly the king of batting for Australia.
Smith kept scoring many runs, and in those years, he hit the tiny white ball like absolutely nobody else. Smith made 24 of those really important scores you can get in a game, called centuries, and that helped Australia play unfathomably well. That Steve man was exceptional but feeble but it didn't stop him! Some other players from different countries, such as Tendulkar, Lara, and Sangakkara, were also really fast at making 10,000 runs.

But Steve's somewhat like a hero because he's living the dream for anyone loving cricket. His batting started off looking uncertain, but then he turned it into an amazing show for everyone watching. Towards a certain collapse, you might think things wouldn't go well, but he showed that if you try hard, you can do exceptionally wonderful things in Cricket.
Now we all think he's really amazing. But even with Steve scoring so many runs, he knows that everything could change one day, so it's a contrary dynamic in sports you're doing amazing now, but it might not last. Yet, everyone's got a vague optimism that he'll keep hitting that ball and making fans cheer for a long time. Smith had almost made it to a very important number in cricket earlier, but in the game in Sydney against India, he was out when he had 9,999 runs. Fans think Smith has got a substantial amount of acceptable playing ahead of him still, so there will be a large amount of times when we can cheer for him.
