Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 6 wickets as they chase off 166 runs against Chennai Super Kings in Hyderabad. Markram 50 and Head 31 and Abhishek Sharma 37 were significant contributors in the innings.
Abhishek Sharma played an electric 12-ball 37 cameo, including three fours and four sixes as Travis Head made a calm 31 from 24 balls. Abhishek hit three boundaries and four sixes, taking his IPL 2024 tally to 161 runs in four innings. With this knock, he moved into the top-5 run-scorers in this year’s IPL.

Markram picked up where Abhishek left off and formed a 60-run stand with Head for the second wicket. The Australia opener was eventually undone after he hit a Maheesh Theekshana delivery straight at Rachin at deep backward square.
Markram then smashed his fifth IPL half-century, getting to the 50-run mark in 35 balls before being caught LBW by Moeen in the 14th over. The England all-rounder struck once again, removing Shahbaz Ahmed after scoring 18 runs off 19 deliveries.
Klaasen and Nitesh Kumar Reddy gave the home side a final flourish as they chased down the 166-run target with 6 wickets and 11 balls in hand.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a tough challenge against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) as they could only manage to score 165/5 in their 20 overs. Despite several notable contributions, CSK struggled to accelerate their innings on a pitch that didn’t offer much assistance to the batters.
In-form Shivam Dube emerged as the top scorer for CSK with a blistering 24-ball 45. His aggressive batting style and ability to find the boundaries at crucial moments provided CSK with the much-needed momentum. Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings with a steady knock of 35 runs off 30 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja provided the much-needed impetus to CSK’s innings with an unbeaten 31 off 23 balls. His cameo at the end ensured that CSK reached a respectable total despite the middle-order collapse.
SunRisers Hyderabad put up a collective bowling effort to contain CSK’s batting lineup. Bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, T Natarajan, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Jaydev Unadkat picked up crucial wickets to restrict CSK to a manageable total.
CSK’s batting struggles against SRH highlighted the challenges of adapting to different pitch conditions in the IPL. While individual performances like those of Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja provided hope, CSK will need to address their middle-order woes to ensure consistent performances in the tournament.
