Sunrisers Hyderabad defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore, moves up to the second place

Sunrisers Hyderabad went against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League 2022 and won by 9 wickets on Saturday at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai. They were chasing a mere 69 for a win, Hyderabad overhauled the target with 12 overs to spare. They reached 72 for 1 eight overs with captain Kane Williamson remaining unbeaten on 16. Abhishek Sharma made 47 alongside him. 

Harsh Patel took one wicket for 18 runs for RCB who were shot out for 68 by SRH prior to this. Suyash Prabhudessai scored the highest for RCB with 15 while Glen Maxwell made 12, unfortunately all the other batters for the team were out in single digits at a rather deteriorating rate. 

Marco Jansen and T Natarajan took three wickets apiece while spinner Jagadeesha Suchith got two for SRH. 

Hyderabad started off with bowling after winning the toss. Bhuvneshwar was out to bowl the first over. Plessis and Rawat were at the crease for Bangalore and Faf made a good shot with good timing, which resulted in a boundary. Marco Jansen bowled the second over and got Plessis’s wicket followed by Virat’s wicket on his next delivery. Kohli departed for a duck, that was consecutive golden ducks for him. Jansen finishes his over by taking the wicket of Anuj Rawat. Jansen bowled the fourth over where Maxwell managed to hit a boundary and the inswinger against him. Thanks to Maxwell, RCB reached 20/3 after 4 overs. Natarajan made a breakthrough and got the wicket of Maxwell. Royal Challengers were seen struggling after getting to only 25/4 after 5 overs. Marco Jansen had bowled the last over of the powerplay and Prabhudessai hit a four against him. He shuffled and drove it to perfection. RCB was plunged further into trouble after J Suchith took Prabhudessai’s wicket. The team reached 47/5 by the end of 8.2 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad kept putting pressure on RCB as T Natarajan came with a breakthrough again as he took the wicket of Hasaranga. Hyderabad clearly dominated the game. 

Bhuvneshwar took the last wicket for SRH as he dismissed Siraj with a good catch by Willamson. Sharma and Kane Williamson started the chase for Sunrises, with Hazelwood bowling the second over. Abhishek ended the over with a four as he hit a boundary, putting SRH at 10/0 after 2 overs. Sharma is then faced with Siraj and intends to finish the game fast. Clearly, with the nominal score to chase. He displayed good batting skills as he hit a six and four against him, Hazelwood bowled the 4th over for RCB. Abhishek Sharma cut it again and got a four against Harshal Patel and got back to back boundaries. Sunrisers Hyderabad reached 42/0 by just 5 overs. Patel managed to dismiss Sharma but that did not affect SRH’s win chase as they scored 64/1 after 7.2 overs. Tripathi slammed a six against Patel and did it in style and the match ended there with Hyderabad winning the game by 9 wickets, putting themselves in the second position of the Indian Premier Leagues’s scoreboard. 

RCB needs to find a way to get back on track after today’s match whereas Sunrisers Hyderabad need to stay consistent with their play. Until next time, the audience is left to wait for the next play!
