The 18th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 took place between West Indies vs Uganda at Providence Stadium in Guyana. West Indies won the toss and opted to bat. Batting first, openers Brandon King and Charles got off to a flying start.
They added 41 runs in 4.3 overs before Alpesh Ramjani dismissed King for 13 off 8. Later on, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford all contributed well with the bat.
However, it was Andre Russell who played a quickfire knock. He smashed six boundaries in his 17-ball 30 knock whereas Romario Shepherd also scored a 5-ball 5 and helped West Indies post a decent total of 173 for 5 in 20 overs.

Masaba picked up 2 wickets whereas Alpesh Ramjani, Cosmas Kyewuta and Dinesh Nakrani claimed one wicket each.
Johnson Charles said after the game: “It feels good (to get runs under the belt). Guyana is always a tough pitch, I really had to give something there for the team. We have a decent total on the board. Once we nail our lengths on this pitch, we have a very good chance. I really wanted to make use of the first six (overs), I was trying to open up the off-side but I felt that their pacers bowled very well. They stuck to their plans. The pitch doesn’t really bounce. I think we have enough, once our bowlers stay on good lengths, the pitch will assist us.”
