Put into bat first, Bangladesh had a worst possible start. Their opener Tanzid Hasan got out for a golden duck, courtesy of Sompal Kami. Meanwhile, Litton Das got out for 10 runs only. While Shanto got out for a mere 4, Shakib scored 17 off 22.

Rishad Hossain scores a quick knock

Wickets at regular intervals didn’t let Bangladesh settle down in the middle. Rishad Hossain, however, tried to score quickly towards the end as he smashed a quick 13 off 7 with a four and a six. But he didn’t get enough support from the other end.

Nepal bowlers did exceptionally well. Their combined efforts helped Nepal restrict Bangladesh 106 for 10 in 19.3 overs. Rohit Paudel, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh and Lamichhane all claimed two wickets each and restricted the opponent to a below-par total as well.

Sompal Kami said after the first innings: “The wicket was really good. I work very hard on my planning, happy to see it pay off. (On bowling 3 overs in the powerplay) The skipper asked me to bowl that third over, thank you Rohit for believing in me. The wicket is very slow, so we wanted to use the spinner for the last over. (On the chase) It is challenging, the wicket is tricky. We need to play sensible cricket. Watch the ball and play.”
