The 37th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 took place between Bangladesh vs Nepal at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown in St Vincent on Jun 16, 07:30 PM local. Tanzim-Mustafizur did exceptionally well and sealed the deal for Bangladesh with a win by 21 runs.

Put into bat first, Bangladesh had a poor start. Their opener Tanzid Hasan got out for a golden duck, as Sompal Kami drew the first blood. Meanwhile, Litton Das got out for a mere 10 runs and Shanto got out for only 4, whereas Shakib scored 17 off 22. However, wickets at regular intervals left Bangladesh struggling in the middle. Rishad Hossain, however, tried to score quickly as he smashed a quick 13 off 7 with a four and a six. But he didn’t get enough support from the other end.

While chasing, Nepal openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh failed to provide a steady start. However, Tanzim Hasan Sakib drew the first blood as he removed Kushal for 4. He also bowled Anil Sah and Rohit Paudel for 0 and 1 respectively. Meanwhile, Aasif Sheikh scored 17 off 14 before Mustafizur dismissed him in the 6th over.

However, Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee built a partnership of 52 runs where the former scored 27 and the latter managed 25 runs as well. The rest of the batters couldn’t contribute much as they got out for 0 runs as well. Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up 4 for 7 whereas Mustafizur Rahman claimed 3 for 7 as well. Sakib picked up a four-wicket haul and was awarded the Player of the Match as well.

However, this is the lowest target successfully defended in T20 World Cups. Meanwhile, Tanzim Hasan recorded the second-best figures for Bangladesh in a T20 World Cups as well.

Player of the Match

Tanzim Sakib said: “We just wanted to keep things simple. Not panic and bowl in good areas. We were very confident of defending this total. This bowling attack is beautiful. Everyone bowled well. Mustafizur bowled a wicket maiden under pressure at the death. I just wanted to execute my plans and that’s what I was focused on. We’re really excited to play in the Super Eights, we are very confident as well.”
