What a sensational display of bowling it was! England showcased a masterclass in bowling as they dismantled Oman for a record-low score of 47 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This commanding performance not only set a new benchmark for the lowest total England has bowled out an opposition for in T20 World Cup history but also gave a significant boost to their Net Run Rate (NRR).
England won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that proved to be pivotal. They aimed to exploit the morning conditions and put pressure on Oman’s batting lineup, which had shown vulnerabilities in recent games.

England’s pace duo, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, set the tone early in the powerplay. Archer’s blistering pace and Wood’s relentless aggression were too much for the Omani openers. They combined to take crucial wickets, reducing Oman to 25 for 4 within the first six overs.
As the powerplay ended, Adil Rashid was introduced into the attack. The leg-spinner spun a web around the Omani batsmen, making life difficult with his sharp googlies and leg breaks. Rashid’s figures of 4 wickets for just 11 runs off 4 overs were instrumental in dismantling the middle order.
Oman never recovered from the early blows. Their middle order was clueless against both pace and spin. Key moments included Rashid’s beautiful leg break to dismiss de Leede and the relentless pressure applied by Archer and Wood.
England’s bowlers were on point with their lines and lengths. They executed their plans to perfection, resulting in a historic low score for Oman. Archer and Wood finished with identical figures, each taking 3 wickets for 12 runs.
This match saw Oman setting an unwanted record of their lowest T20I score, surpassing their previous low of 78 against Nepal in 2022. For England, this was the lowest total they have bowled out any opponent for in T20 World Cups.
This is also the third lowest total ever in T20 World Cup history.
