The Pakistan cricket team has decided to change their accommodation in New York for the T20 World Cup group games against India and Canada. Initially booked at a hotel an hour and a half away from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the team has moved to a closer location on Long Island, just a ten-minute drive from the venue. This decision follows other teams’ logistical challenges and aims to ensure better preparation and performance for the crucial matches ahead.

Background of Accommodation Change

Pakistan’s cricket team was initially booked to stay at a hotel approximately an hour and a half from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The distance raised concerns about travel time and its potential impact on the team’s performance.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took exception to the arrangement, emphasizing the need for a hotel closer to the venue. They argued that the lengthy travel time could lead to fatigue and negatively affect the players’ performance.

Logistical Challenges Faced by Other Teams

Staying in Brooklyn ahead of their game against South Africa, Sri Lanka faced significant logistical challenges. The 90-minute commute led to the cancellation of their training session on the eve of the game to prevent fatigue. Despite their efforts, they suffered a heavy defeat, prompting them to lodge an official complaint about their travel arrangements.

ICC and LOC Involvement

Generally, the International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), handles hotel bookings for World Cups. Although it is rare for teams to change hotels, the ICC acquiesced to Pakistan’s request, recognizing the validity of their concerns.

New Accommodation Details

The new hotel is on Long Island, just a ten-minute drive from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. This significantly reduces travel time, allowing players to rest more and prepare effectively for their matches.

With the new accommodation, Pakistan can optimize their training sessions without worrying about long commutes. This change is expected to enhance their on-field performance.

Upcoming Matches in New York

On June 9, Pakistan will face India, one of their biggest rivals. The closer accommodation is expected to help Pakistan be in peak condition for this high-stakes match.

Two days later, Pakistan will play against Canada. This match is equally important as Pakistan aims to secure their place in the knockout stages of the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan vs USA

In an unprecedented turn of events, the USA cricket team has made headlines by defeating Pakistan in a Super Over at the T20 World Cup in Texas.

The match at the Grand Prairie Stadium saw both teams finishing their 20 overs with identical scores of 159. The USA, co-hosts and debutants in this World Cup, demonstrated remarkable composure under pressure to force a Super Over.

Super Over Highlights

The USA amassed 18 runs in the Super Over, a considerable total without hitting a six. Their strategy focused on smart batting and exploiting Pakistan’s bowling weaknesses, particularly targeting Amir’s inconsistencies.

In their response, Pakistan managed only 13 runs for the loss of one wicket. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t match the USA’s Super Over total, leaving their campaign in a precarious position.
