Experienced South Africa bowler Marco Jansen was forced off the field with an injury during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight encounter between West Indies vs South Africa at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on June 23. Jansen, who was fielding at long off had a mid-air collision with long-on fielder Kagiso Rabada while trying to save a six off Aiden Markram as well.

Jansen had to leave the field after the collision

However, in the seventh over, Kyle Mayers lofted a delivery from Aiden Markram over the head of the bowler towards the sightscreen when the horrible collision happened between the two teammates as well. Soon after, Jensen had to leave the field as he reacted in pain. While Rabada was able to play despite having some discomfort, Jansen spent some time outside the boundary line before making his way to the dressing room for further treatment.

Tabraiz Shamsi picks up 3 wickets

As far as the game is concerned after losing two early wickets, opener Kyle Mayers and Roston Chase started to resurrect the innings for West Indies with a half-century stand before Tabraiz Shamsi broke the partnership. Soon Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford got out.

Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph tried to contribute but, they could only manage to score 15 and 11 respectively as well. Wickets at regular intervals didn’t let West Indies batters settle down in the middle and they could only manage 135 runs in 20 overs. Tabraiz Shamsi claimed 3 wickets as well.
