The team, expected to be a destructive side on the pitch, turned out to be a super flop in the first half of the ongoing IPL 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), with so much batting power in their squad, have won only 2 out of 8 games so far. Former Australia international and Chennai Super Kings opener Matthew Hayden advised them to stop overthinking.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's latest setback was against the Mumbai Indians. Pat Cummins-led SRH managed to score only 143 for 8 wickets after being asked to bat first at the Wankhede stadium. In form, Rohit Sharma made the run chase easy for the Mumbai Indians and gifted another loss to Hyderabad.
The finalist of the IPL 2024 is currently at the ninth spot in the ten-team tournament. According to the numbers, the Orange Brigade can still qualify for the playoffs. To make this happen, they need to win all of their remaining matches and hope for the best outcomes from other results.

According to the former cricketer, "The simplest explanation is just a lack of confidence. When you start losing the way SRH has, it's tough to bounce back. They were seen as benchmark batters, but right now they're far from that. This has led to issues in the middle order."
Hayden proposed that the team should stop worrying and focus on their own game! He observed that SRH was at a stage in the tournament chase where they were trying to put their right combinations together and find the style to regain the flair of the powerful batting unit they used to have. Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 25 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The match can be a thriller as SRH is currently at 9 and CSK at 10, hoping to make a comeback to winning way.
"They need to stop overthinking and focus on their own game. Right now, SRH are chasing this tournament, chasing combinations, and even chasing the form that once defined their powerful batting unit," Hayden further added.
