1. MS Dhoni is unable to finish games

Once arguably the main man of the team, now causing headaches for cricket fans. Former India and CSK skipper who finished multiple matches in his prime days, now struggling to hit a boundary under pressure. Dhoni today came at the 7th spot to score 30 off 26 balls, strike rate 115.38. His innings decorated with a 4 and a six. In a pressure situation, where the number of overs is only limited to 20, batters have to play in a quick manner, like Dhoni did in the past. Against Rajasthan Royals, the 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter scored 16 from 11 balls; against RCB, batting as a number 9, he scored 30 in 16 balls.

2. Lack of form from top-order batters

The team has a fumbling top order. Team management has tried different combinations to find the best but without any notable success. In the last three matches, CSK preferred three different batting combinations. But the main thing is that they are missing the team performance caused by individual inconsistency. The team have tried several opening pairs throughout IPL 2025. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad's form at the top order is a major concern. The team's success in recent seasons has largely depended on his performance. The right hand batter has scored just 121 runs in 4 innings so far with an avaerage of 30.25 and a strike rate of 155.12. But the team needs more of him as Gaikwad is team's prime batter.

3. Spinners are unable to pick wickets in middle overs

In the middle overs, opposing team batters were able to rotate the strike without such trouble. Which means the bowlers from the Yellow Brigade, especially the spinners, have yet to create an impact by taking some wickets. Ravindra Jadeja has been promising so far with his economical bowling but has claimed only 2 wickets so far. Another veteran of the team, Ravichandran Ashwin, conceded over 9 runs on average and took only 3 wickets in 4 matches. Young Noor Ahmed was not bright in today's game, but on average he tried to perform steadily, taking 10 scalps in 4 matches at a 7.86 economy rate.
