After a spell of problematic weeks since IPL 2024, it seems that Mumbai Indians (MI) has finally found their mojo during the peak hour of IPL 2025. After a wavering beginning in the ongoing season with back-to-back defeats, the five-time champion side is finally proving their mettle. The Mumbai-based franchise witnessed highs and lows throughout the years and gained experience in what to do in between a storm-struck ocean— keep calm and do the needful tactically.
From the bottom of the points table to climb to the 6th spot with 3 consecutive wins, through this article we'll derive how MI pulled out their best.
Mumbai Indians management is well known for their methodical game style on the field. From structuring the playing eleven to utilizing bowlers according to conditions, MI has mastered all these things. After a cruising victory against archrival Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MI batting coach Kieron Pollard revealed that they planned to use Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball against SRH and wanted to use Deepak Chahar against CSK.

Due to injury, Jasprit Bumrah was unavailable for the first few matches of the season. His return was marked as the game-changer for the Mumbai Indians. After getting his rhythm back, the star Indian pacer is doing what he can do best: producing impact spells. Bumrah's bowling figures against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were 0/29, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were 1/21, and against CSK were 2/25.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya himself is looking on song along with his batting and bowling duties. The all-rounder has so far scored 104 runs in this season from five innings at a strike rate of 170 and claimed 11 wickets, for which he is in the race for the Purple Cap as well. Pandya's all-around abilities proved very helpful during close encounters.
Slowly but steadily, Rohit Sharma is back in his form. His 76* (46) was the exact innings Mumbai Indians needed at the top of their batting line-up for a solid foundation to create a good total on board. Sharma's opening partner, Ryan Rickelton, is also looking promising enough to play a big knock. During their prime, MI's opening pair can be dangerous against any of the tournament's star-studded bowling lineups.
In the middle order, Suryakumar Yadav, with his 360° hitting abilities, has started to get notable runs in a more confident way. He hammered an unbeaten 68* off 30 balls in an innings against Chennai Super Kings, which was so far his best in IPL 2025.
