USA vs BAN: Mustafizur Rahman's six wicket haul helps Bangladesh avoid whitewash

In the third and final T20I between Bangladesh and the USA in Dallas, Mustafizur Rahman delivered a stellar performance, achieving a career-best 6 for 10. This remarkable feat marked the first time a Bangladeshi bowler secured a six-wicket haul in T20Is, significantly restricting the USA to a modest total of 104 for 9. Bangladesh’s victory was further cemented by an unbeaten century partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar.  

The duo stitched a partnership of 108 runs in just 11.5 overs led Bangladesh to a commanding ten-wicket win, reducing the series margin to 2-1 in favor of the USA. Rishad Hossain, alongside Mustafizur Rahman, played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s victory, delivering an exceptional bowling performance by conceding only seven runs in his four overs and picking up a vital wicket. This spell marked Bangladesh’s most economical T20I bowling performance for a minimum of four overs.

Additionally, Shakib Al Hasan reached a significant milestone, becoming the 17th cricketer to claim 700 international wickets. Notably, Shakib is the first cricketer to achieve this feat while also amassing over 14,000 runs. Despite the USA resting four first-choice players, they started aggressively with Shayan Jahangir and Andries Gous providing a strong opening. However, Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Mustafizur, gradually tightened their grip, restricting the USA’s scoring opportunities. 

Bangladesh batters chased down easily 

In response, Bangladesh’s batter were in a devastating form. Especially, Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar, dominated the USA bowlers. Tanzid reached his third T20I fifty, while Soumya provided crucial support with an unbeaten 43 off 28 balls. Their partnership, marked by impressive stroke play and timely boundaries, sealed Bangladesh’s comprehensive victory. 

Overall, Bangladesh’s stellar bowling performance, highlighted by Mustafizur’s six-wicket haul, combined with their dominant batting display, led by Tanzid and Soumya’s century partnership, secured a memorable win in the final T20I against the USA. Bangladesh will face India in a warm-up game on June 1.
