Indian cricket fans will remember the night of April 28, 2025, for a long time. A 14-year-old boy did something almost unthinkable, out of the blue, from the clear sky of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Vaibhav Suryavanshi's IPL 2025 century left the cricket universe in pure amazement.

After his destructive innings, the batter from Bihar chose to remain humble after the match and talked about the sacrifices his parents have so far made throughout the years. The left-handed batter, in his first interview after the Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Gujarat Titans (GT) matches, credited his parents for his successful innings.

The budding talent said on camera, "My parents are doing so much for me; my mother went to sleep at 11 pm and woke up at 2, perhaps 2 hours of sleep at night. My father left all his jobs and pushed himself for my nourishment and my career. My brother is taking care of the family as much as possible, and the financial crisis is over there today, whatever I did, only because of my family."

The prodigy from Bihar acknowledged his father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, very much. Sanjiv himself was a state-level cricketer who identified his son's talents early. Only at the age of 5 did Vaibhav start his training under his father's observation.

Sacrifices and rutine practice developed Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Later he joined a cricket academy in Patna. As per media reports, Suryavanshi often had to travel from Samastipur to Bihar, a distance of almost 15 kilometers. To cover up the expenses, his father sold a portion of his family's land.

Suryavanshi's family's fortune shines during the IPL 2025 mega auction, when Rajasthan Royals chased in Rs 1.10 crore for the 14-year-old batter. Last night (April 28), Vaibhav played a multi-record-breaking 101-run innings off 38 runs with eleven 6s and seven 4s.
