In a thrilling match against Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru showcased his batting prowess by slamming the season’s maiden century at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Kohli achieved this milestone off 67 deliveries after RCB was put into bat. With this century, Kohli extends his record tally of IPL hundreds to eight, adding to his impressive overall tally of nine centuries in T20 cricket.

Kohli’s century milestone in IPL history

Kohli’s century marks a significant moment in IPL history, adding to the league’s rich tapestry of memorable performances. He now leads the list of batters with the most hundreds in IPL history, with seven centuries to his name. This remarkable achievement underscores Kohli’s consistency and dominance in the tournament over the years.

Criticism hits Kohli with his century

Despite facing criticism for the slower pace of his innings during this particular century, Kohli’s feat solidifies his status as one of the premier batsmen in the IPL.

In addition to his latest century, Kohli’s IPL journey has been dotted with numerous standout performances. Notably, he broke an eight-season drought without a hundred by recording four centuries in the IPL 2016 season, where he led his team to the finals. Kohli’s exceptional form that season saw him amass a staggering 973 runs, setting a record that remains unmatched in the league to this day.

Today was not an exception. Despite all of this he ended the first innings with 113 by his side and gave a total target of 184 to Rajasthan.
