Virat Kohli was in high spirits after his impressive performance, scoring a rapid 92 runs off just 47 balls for RCB against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a crucial IPL 2024 match in Dharamsala. Following a recent candid interview where he addressed criticism about his strike rate, Kohli appeared relaxed and jovial as he humorously mentioned batting at a good pace while chatting with the broadcasters during the mid-innings break at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
Asked to bat first, the in-form opener Kohli made a quick start, supported by Rajat Patidar (55 off 23 balls), who joined him to dismantle the PBKS bowlers. Cameron Green added a brisk 46 off 27 balls towards the end of the innings. Criticized for his scoring rate, Kohli’s impressive strike rate of 195.74 will undoubtedly please fans.

The former India skipper also emphasized the importance of maintaining his strike rate throughout the innings, acknowledging the challenging phase when Patidar got out and adverse weather conditions intervened. He noted the need for settling in initially but highlighted the decisive shift towards aggressive play once he and Green found their rhythm.
“Was important for me to keep up the strike rate right through,” Virat Kohli said with a smile.
After his momentous innings, the legendary India batter Virat Kohli has surpassed 600 runs for the fourth time in his IPL career, matching KL Rahul for the highest number of 600-plus totals in a season in the tournament. Kohli’s tally reached 634 runs in 12 matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 153. He also became the first player to do so in this edition of the IPL.
Additionally, Kohli climbed into the top five in the list of batters with the most sixes in IPL 2024, registering 30 maximums so far — trailing leader Abhishek Sharma of SRH by just five sixes.
