During the Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi clash in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 2024), a heartening interaction unfolded between Colin Munro and a young ball boy on Monday, March 4th.
The touching moment occurred when a six was struck, and the ball boy attempted to catch it but missed. Observing the disappointment on the youngster’s face, Colin Munro stepped in to offer some words of encouragement. With a gesture of disappointment himself, Munro expressed his empathy by placing a comforting arm around the boy.
Later in the match, the same ball boy redeemed himself with a remarkable catch, sparking jubilant scenes. In the 19th over of Zalmi’s innings, a delivery from Rumman Raees was dispatched towards backward square leg by Arif Yaqoob. Despite Munro’s attempt, he couldn’t reach the ball. However, the ball boy astoundingly grabbed the catch just inside the boundary line, prompting Munro to leap over him in celebration.
Despite conceding a six, Munro celebrated the ball boy’s catch with warmth, sharing a congratulatory hug for his exceptional effort.
In the game itself, Islamabad United halted Peshawar Zalmi’s three-match winning streak by defeating them by 29 runs. Batting first, Islamabad set a challenging total of 196/4 in 20 overs. Although the openers struggled, captain Shadab Khan’s spirited knock of 80 off 51 balls propelled the team. Additionally, contributions from Agha Salman, Jordan Cox, and Azam Khan proved vital.

In response, Peshawar Zalmi faltered, finishing at 167/9. Despite Aamer Jamal’s resilient 87 runs, Zalmi couldn’t recover from early setbacks, with their top three batsmen falling cheaply. Captain Babar Azam acknowledged the challenging situation but remained positive about his team’s efforts, emphasizing the unpredictability of cricket and the positives to take from their performance.
