Yuzvendra Chahal was heavily trolled by Punjab Kings teammate Glenn Maxwell after he managed to get a bat from MS Dhoni before their match against the Chennai Super Kings on April 30. Chahal received his ODI cap from Dhoni in 2016 and has developed a close relationship with the CSK legend ever since.
Before the battle on Wednesday, Chahal managed to get hold of one of Dhoni's cherished bats and went back to the Punjab dressing room to flaunt. Maxwell was in the room and inquired if it belonged to the CSK icon.Chahal responded with some shadow batting and that he will bat with the willow that Dhoni had given to him. On this Maxwell gave a witty one-liner that reminded the leg-spinner that it is he who gets subbed out in every game.
"You get subbed out in every game," said Maxwell. Priyansh Arya, who was present in the room as well, made a light-hearted comment that some Haryana kid would definitely snatch it away from Chahal. Some kid from Haryana is going to steal this bat for sure joked Priyansh.

In an interview in 2018, Chahal remembered how Ms Dhoni instructed him not to address him as sir. The leg-spinner explained how Dhoni called him over respectfully and instructed him not to call him sir."I got the ODI cap from the legend MS Dhoni. He is a legend and I was with him for the first time. I was not even able to speak in front of him. He speaks so politely that you doubt if he is actually Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the legend".When I met him for the first time at Zimbabwe I had used to refer to him as Mahi Sir. Then some time later, he called me and said, 'Mahi, Dhoni, Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Bhai. Call me whatever you may but not sir, Chahal added.
