The showdown between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad quickly turned into a high-scoring spectacle. Opting to bat first, PBKS showcased their firepower with the bat, posting a mammoth 245-run total in 20 overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a blazing 82 off just 36 deliveries, while other batters contributed steadily to push the total well past the 240-run mark.
In reply, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came out with all guns blazing. The duo dismantled the PBKS bowling unit with aggressive stroke play, putting the pressure back on the visitors right from the start. Their blistering partnership gave SRH strong momentum in their daunting chase, rattling the opposition’s bowlers early in the innings and keeping the required run rate within reach.
Tensions briefly erupted on the field when Glenn Maxwell, introduced during the powerplay, was taken apart by the SRH batters. He conceded 16, 10, and 14 runs in his three overs, failing to provide any control with the ball. Things escalated when Travis Head and Maxwell, both Australians, engaged in a heated exchange in the middle. Marcus Stoinis quickly stepped in to cool things down, preventing the situation from spiraling further.
