In a significant move to support women-led transformation in Rajasthan, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has pledged to provide solar-powered homes for every six hit during their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 6th.

The initiative aims to amplify opportunities for empowered women in Rajasthan through the use of clean energy, with solar power being a key focus area for creating sustainable livelihoods and a cleaner environment. The Royals’ commitment is part of their #PinkPromise campaign, which underscores their dedication to social equity and women’s empowerment.

A royal move by Royals

The Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF), established in 2019 with the vision of ‘Aurat Hai Toh Bharat Hai,’ has been instrumental in enabling over 15 million women in Rajasthan by ensuring equitable access to water, livelihoods, clean energy, and mental health support. The Royals’ matchday kits for the #PinkPromise game will feature the names of RRF beneficiaries, symbolizing their ongoing support for the cause.

Moreover, all proceeds from the sale of special all-pink matchday jerseys will be donated to the Foundation, alongside a commitment to contribute ₹100 for every ticket purchased for the match. The Royals have also planned various activities during the matchday to raise awareness and engage fans, including performances by Rajasthani women artists, sand art showcasing solar panels, and the presence of inspirational women from the state.

Rajasthan Royals commits to social equity

Jake Lush McCrum, CEO of Rajasthan Royals, expressed optimism about the impact of the initiative, highlighting the Foundation’s efforts to create a rural transformation model that can be replicated nationwide. The Royals have further demonstrated their commitment by engaging with inspirational women from the Foundation during a visit to Sursingpura village, showcasing their dedication to grassroots empowerment.
