India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a special moment with fans on the sidelines of the Delhi Premier League. Following Purani Dilli 6’s convincing victory over the West Delhi Lions on Wednesday, 22 August, Pant delighted supporters by posing for selfies and signing autographs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The crowd's excitement was palpable as Pant took the time to engage with fans after a much-needed win for his team.

Purani Dilli 6 bounce back with style

Purani Dilli 6's match was a significant turnaround after back-to-back losses in the league. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, they restricted West Delhi Lions to a modest 141/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Key contributions from Laxman, who took 3/41, and Aayush Singh Thakur, with figures of 2/27, kept West Delhi Lions in check. Despite early struggles, Ekansh’s quickfire 34 off 14 balls and Tishant Dabla’s explosive 23 off 9 balls helped push the score to a respectable 141.

In reply, Purani Dilli 6’s chase was spearheaded by Arpit Rana, who struck an unbeaten 56 off 43 balls. Along with Vansh Bedi's 30 off 18 balls, the pair ensured a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 17.1 overs. The duo's aggressive approach helped them surpass the target with ease.

Early struggles for West Delhi Lions

West Delhi Lions struggled early on, losing three wickets for just 7 runs within 2.2 overs. Lalit Yadav struck in the first over, removing Ankit Kumar for a duck, and Aayush Singh Thakur's sharp bowling, coupled with an impressive catch by Keshav Dalal, led to the downfall of Anmol Sharma for just one run. Despite a brief recovery led by Captain Hrithik Shokeen (28 off 32) and Ekansh, their team could not mount a significant total. Laxman's 3/41 and the disciplined bowling attack of Purani Dilli 6 never allowed them to gain momentum.
