Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing legend in India, who was for the first time in Kashmir, participated willingly with locals in enthusiastic street cricket games at Gulmarg among the awe-inspiring beauty. Besides that he also visited Aman Setu bridge on line of control at Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir where he had deep chats with soldiers posted at Kaman Post next to it- according to officials.
Before that, Tendulkar took a trip to a local bat factory where he remembered his very first willow bat from Kashmir that was given as a gift by his sister; he focused on how cricket helps people make deep personal connections. The visit to MJ Sports Bat Factory highlighted both Kashmere’s rich cricketing history and the abiding charm of traditional cricket tools.
In a post on social media site X, Tendulkar said “my very first bat was gifted by my sister; it was made of kashmiri willow. Now I am here so it would be logical for me to go for kashmir willow.” P.S.: An interesting fact; some of my favorite bats had only about 5-6 grains. How many grains do your bats have?
The owner of MJ Sports, Mohammad Shaheen Parray said he was thrilled by the unplanned visit of Tendulkar and recollected how the cricket maestro had taken up bats in his hands on their quality. Comparing Kashmir willow bats to English willow ones, Tendulkar declared that he was ready to help them.
Tendulkar received an unexpected warm reaction from passengers while traveling to Kashmir who started shouting “Sachin! Sachin!” as a sign of their love and affection.
