Bengal Seamer Mukesh Kumar got to know of his selection only after noticing that he was a part of the Indian Team’s WhatsApp group. His name isn’t as known with him not being a part of the IPL. Mukesh is a part of a rare group of players who make the national side without playing the IPL, but comes in with incredible numbers.
He has immense experience in List-A Cricket and is also growing in first class Cricket for Bengal. Mukesh Kumar is among the top wicket-takers for them in recent times, topping the wicket taking charts in the Ranji Trophy 2021-2022, for Bengal.
He is also pretty prolific with the India A side. Having made his debut against New Zealand A, he finished with the most wickets, propelling his entry to the national side. He is the most consistent bowler in Bengal now, with some good performances for the A side. In the ongoing Irani Cup as well, Mukesh Kumar is off to a good start with four wickets in the first innings.
His numbers in List A Cricket are just as good. He is known for his economy and has the ability to set up batters effectively. He is pretty accurate with the ball, making it easier for him to set-up and dismiss batters. At 28, he is the latest entrant in a list of fast bowlers competing for places in the Indian team. He has a chance to move up quickly. With the World Cup bound players out, he will get a game at some stage. A good showing here will put him among the long list. Furthermore, a good showing will also increase his chances of a strong IPL contract in future seasons.
After years of toiling, Mukesh Kumar finally has his chance. He is a talented bowler, with some of the best numbers for Bengal over the last few years. He now has a chance to move up to the big stage.
