The star batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli, is one of the most successful players in Indian Premier League (IPL) history and has also built a massive fanbase off the field. With a staggering number of runs for India and a dominant IPL record, Kohli has become the most followed Indian on Instagram.
However, despite his immense popularity, fans noticed that Virat had stopped posting personal milestones or team achievements on his social media for the past few years. His feed was largely dominated by brand collaborations and advertisements—until recently, when he archived most of those posts, sparking curiosity and speculation among his followers.
Now, the reason behind this move is clear. In a candid conversation with Danish Sait during IPL 2025, Virat explained that he's currently in a phase where he prefers to stay low-key on social media. He shared that he's not keen on digital endorsements at the moment, though he didn’t rule them out entirely in the future. The conversation went something like this ;
Mr. Nags: Since you’ve won the Champions Trophy and the World Cup, have your brand deals gone up?
Virat Kohli: Yes!
Mr. Nags: Is that why you’ve hidden your old promotional posts?
Virat Kohli: I’m in an interesting phase with social media. Right now, I don’t feel like engaging too much. I think it definitely needed a reset.

On the cricket side, Virat Kohli has been in top form for RCB, being the team’s highest run-scorer with 248 runs in six matches, averaging 62. He’s scored three fifties and has a strike rate of 143.35, making him a strong contender for the Orange Cap this season. Kohli also had praise for his opening partner, Phil Salt, who’s been on fire with a strike rate of 185.71 and has already scored 208 runs in six matches.
In RCB’s recent match against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, Kohli played a match-winning knock of 62* runs in the chase. RCB is now sitting in third place on the points table with four wins from six games. Their next match is on April 18 against Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. As for the rumours, Kohli didn’t delete his promotional posts from Instagram. He simply removed them from his homepage. The posts, especially the reels, are still there; they just don’t appear on his main grid anymore.
