After the memorable high-budget mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), we are now moving to the mini-auction for the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025). The WPL 2025 will be the third edition of the Women’s Premier League.
Five teams, the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, inaugural WPL champions Mumbai Indians, two-time WPL runners-up Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz are the participating teams for the WPL 2025.

Just like the Indian Premier League (IPL), which organises the mini-auctions for the next few seasons after a mega-auction, WPL 2025 will also host a similar mini-auction. All five participating teams will battle to secure a player with the highest bid.
Bengaluru will host the WPL 2025 mini-auction on December 15, 2024. It will begin at 15:00 IST.
Each team has a complete purse value of INR 15 crore, INR 1.50 crore more than the previous edition. After spending amounts to the retained players, the franchise can buy players from the upcoming auction with their remaining purse value.
A total of 26 players were released by the five teams before the upcoming mini-auction.
There are 19 slots available for the upcoming mini-auction for the WPL 2025.
WPL doesn’t have the impact player rule, while each team can field a maximum of five overseas players in a WPL match, including the fifth one must be from an Associate Member.
The BCCI has revealed that over 400 players registered their names, but the board has set a list of 120 names for the final auction after the franchises’ inputs.
Among the 120 shortlisted names for the final auction, 91 players are Indians, including nine capped players.
Among the 120 shortlisted names for the final auction, 29 players are overseas, including three from Associate Members.
The 34-year-old Australian batter Laura Harris is the oldest in the WPL 2025 mini-auction.
The 14-year-old Indian cricketers Anshu Nagar and Ira Jadhav are the youngest players in the WPL 2025 mini-auction.
It is expected that the WPL 2025 can begin nearly the third week of January 2025. So, we can expect that the Final can be played in early February 2025.
