In their second match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, India Women restricted Pakistan Women to 105/8 in 20 overs.
After winning the toss, Pakistan Women captain Fatima Sana chose to bat first.
Indian bowlers started strongly after Renuka Singh bowled the opener Gull Feroza for a duck in the first over. Another opener Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin had a 24-run partnership in the powerplay before Deepti Sharma broke that partnership by dismissing Amin for eight runs. At the end of the powerplay, Pakistan Women were battling on 29/2 where the batters managed three boundaries.
All the Indian bowlers continued the tight bowling performances after the powerplay as the Pakistan batters were suffocated. Although Asha Shobhana dropped two easy catches, those hardly affected the Indian team.
Pakistan batters hardly managed to fight as there were no big innings. Opener Muneeba Ali was stumped for 17 runs off 26 balls.
While Nida Dar was trying her best, she hardly got any support. Captain Fatima Sana was out after scoring 13 runs.
At the very end, Dar had a 28-run useful eighth-wicket partnership with Syeda Aroob Shah, where Arundhati Reddy broke that partnership in the last over by dismissing Dar for 28 runs off 34 balls. It was her third wicket, who already dismissed Omaima Sohail (3) and Aliya Riaz (4). Meanwhile, Shah remained not out for 14 runs.
In the last four overs, Pakistan Women scored 29 runs, where they only managed to hit two fours.
All the Indian bowlers picked up at least one wicket, while Arundhati Reddy claimed three wickets (3/19) and Shreyanka Patil bagged two wickets (2/12).
