Six-time champions Australia Women thrashed Pakistan Women by nine wickets to open their path for the semi-final qualification in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. 

In that Group A match at Dubai, Australia Women's captain Alyssa Healy chose to field first after winning the toss. While Pakistan Women were all out for only 82 runs, Australia Women chased down the target in 11 overs after losing only one wicket.

Aliya Riaz was the only 20+ run scorer in Pakistan innings

There were no strong performances by the Pakistan batters. They had a slow start with 23/2 in the powerplay. Only Aliya Riaz managed to reach the 20-run mark in that innings as she scored 26 off 32 balls with the help of three fours.

 

Ashleigh Gardner got four wickets

Off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner took four wickets in that match as she finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-21-4. After dismissing Iram Javed (12) in the 17th over, Gardner took three wickets in the 19th over after dismissing Tuba Hassan (3), Syeda Aroob Shah (1), and Nashra Sandhu (0).

Also, Annabel Sutherland (2/15) and Georgia Wareham (2/16) picked up two wickets each. 

Alyssa Healy batted strongly before retired hurt

Chasing down the low target, opener Beth Mooney scored run-a-ball 15 runs, while her opening partner and skipper Alyssa Healy was retired hurt after scoring 37 off 23 balls. Ellyse Perry (22 not out off 23 balls) and the Player of the Match Ashleigh Gardner (7 not out off 5 balls) comfortably finished the game. 

Among the Pakistan Women bowlers, only Sadia Iqbal (1/17) managed to pick up one wicket.
