South Africa Women continued their dominant form in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, defeating Scotland Women by a massive 80 runs in their Group B match at Dubai. With this win, South Africa climbed to the top of the Group B points table, pushing Scotland out of the tournament after a disappointing group stage.

Strong powerplay sets the tone for South Africa

South Africa Women chose to bat first and had a fantastic start. Openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits put together a 64-run stand in the powerplay. Wolvaardt scored 40 off 27 balls before getting dismissed, setting a solid foundation for the rest of the innings.

Brits and Kapp anchor the innings

Despite a minor stumble in the middle, Brits (43 off 35) and Marizanne Kapp (43 off 24) kept the scoreboard ticking with their steady partnership, propelling South Africa to a total of 166/5 in 20 overs.

Scottish batters struggle against SA’s bowlers

In response, Scotland Women faltered early and were bowled out for 86 runs. South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba led the attack with 3 wickets, while Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk took two wickets each.
