Aggressive Zimbabwe recorded Record Victory against Bangladesh in T20I Match

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series here at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Friday. Bangladesh started the T20I series on a high as they won the first contest against Zimbabwe by eight wickets.

In the second T20I of the ongoing three-match leg between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, the hosts recorded a remarkable victory to level the series 1-1.

The chief architect behind Zimbabwe’s epic win was Wesley Madhevere, who lit up the Harare Sports Club with his sensational batting. The 20-year-old demolished the Bangladesh bowling attack and kept the momentum in favor of the home team despite the fall of wickets at regular intervals.

Madhevere ended up scoring 73 runs from 57 deliveries with the help of five fours and three sixes. Apart from the batting all-rounder, Dion Myers and Ryan Burl made valuable contributions to take the team’s total to 166/6 in their allotted 20 overs. While Myers made 26 off 21 balls, Burl remained unbeaten on 34 from 19 deliveries, including two fours and as many maximums.

Chasing a challenging target of 167, Bangladesh had the worst possible start as Muzarabani removed Naim Sheikh and Soumya Sarkar in the third over of the innings. The duo had scored 100 runs for the first wicket in the first match of the series. The visitors were reduced to 2-17. After that Masakadza picked three-wicket in a span of three overs. Followed by another two wickets by Tendai Chatara.

For the host, Shamim Hossain was the top scorer as he scored 29 runs in 13 balls while Afif Hossain hit 25 runs in 25 balls.

Zimbabwe opening batsman Wesley Madhevere played a brilliant knock of 74 runs in just 57 balls to help host post a competitive total of 167 runs against Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series here at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Friday.

Madhevere played with a strike rate of 129.82, smashing five fours and three sixes. He was well supported by Ryan Burl and Dion Myers. Burl scored 34 runs in 19 balls with the help of two sixes and two fours while Myers scored 26 runs in just 21 balls.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam continued his great form by picking three wickets while Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan picked one wicket each.
