The 2024 ICC T20 World Cup has begun and as always the excitement is already in the air. This year’s tournament will witness the arrival of new teams like the USA, Canada, Uganda, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea.
Amidst this, we will also see some Indian-origin players representing other countries and play against Team India. In this piece, we will discuss Indian players who will be facing Team India while representing other countries.
It will be interesting to see how they perform in a big tournament like the T20 World Cup and that too against a team like India. We take a look at these players.
The left-arm pacer played in the 2010 under-19 World Cup alongside players like KL Rahul and Harshal Patel. The 32-year-old has so far claimed 73 wickets in 48 ODIs with best bowling figures of 5/32 and 27 wickets in 27 T20Is with best bowling figures of 5/12. He can surprise the batters with his pace and bounce.
Monank Patel was born in Anand, Gujarat and played for the Gujarat state team at junior level before shifting to the USA.
The 31-year-old has scored 1446 runs in 47 ODIs with a highest score of 130 registering 2 centuries and 10 half-centuries and 457 runs in 26 T20Is with a strike rate of 129.5 and 2 half-centuries. The wicketkeeper batter has registered 28 dismissals in T20Is and 36 in ODIs.
The 35-year-old is a fearless striker who can hit the ball a long way if he gets going. The right-hander has scored 589 runs in 29 T20Is with a strike rate of 147.2 and has registered 1 century and 1 half-century. He has scored 97 runs in 5 ODIs. The right-hander can be a handy contributor with his hard-hitting abilities.
The 29-year-old is a handy operator with his flight and length. Although the right-arm off-spinner has minimal experience playing in the ODI format where he has just played 7 ODI games so far claiming 4 wickets Dutta has claimed 25 wickets in 25 T20Is with best bowling figures of 4/12.
The 29-year-old Mumbai-born is a handy all-rounder as he can contribute with the bat and his clever left arm off spin. Ramjani has so far scored 569 runs in 40 T20Is with a highest score of 78 and a strike rate of 131.4 scoring 2 half centuries.
He has claimed 71 wickets in as many T20Is games with best bowling figures of 4/9 and an economy rate of 4.84.
